Can’t…Form…Sentences

By metalia

…So I’ll just post this instead.

(Mainly because I’m testing out lovely slideshow feature in my new Photobucket account. Sorry to use you in such a fashion.)

Also? Pretty please help me with the following: Is this look office-appropriate? I’m asking because while I think the suit is adorable, I can’t see myself wearing (what technically equates to) shorts at work. Unless, of course, this is The New Thing, and once again, as with the leggings that seem to have descended upon us, unbidden, I find myself unable to adapt. Please advise.

Actual cohesive blog post will follow once I finish reorganizing my closet. (So…approximately September ‘09.)

Hmmm…. Not sure what to say – I’ve never worked in an office that would have allowed that sort of clothing. But, I’ve also been nearly 2 years out of the “professional world”. It is adorable, though!

  2. Julianna Says:

I would think it’s not office appropriate, and that’s coming from a laid-back westerner.

    Slideshow! Awesome!

  3. Christine Says:

I would say it is not office appropriate…except for maybe on a casual Friday…but I suppose it depends on the office.

And also that I am amazed at how you haven’t gnawed off Toopweets’ adorable chubby arms yet. MYGOD, the delicious baby rolls.

  4. whoorl Says:

Probably not office appropriate for most body types, but on your petite little frame, TOO CUTE!

    Yay slideshow!!

  5. whoorl Says:

Did we already discuss the fact that we have the same Kate Spade diaper bag? One more check on the list, my dear…

  6. chirky Says:

Interestingly, a friend of mine wore that outfit today, sans blazer. And the shirt was white. And the shorts were gray houndstooth. But still, very cute. On her.

On me? NO. But on her teensy little frame? Very cute.

I love the picture where Toop looks like he’s singing to the sky. La-la-laaa!

I think that could be pulled off in SOME offices. My problem with it is the waistband of the shorts is way too high. Ew. Also the model could use a hip or two. Preferably two, that match.

  8. AnnieM Says:

I think that suit is adorable! Even if it isn’t office appropriate, get it for other times.

BTW, way to rock the beater!

  9. Fran Says:

Your baby is just precious! His smile just melts my heart! I loved the slideshow. Thanks for entertaining me with your great blog. I have been smiling everytime I checked your post in the past couple of days…..”Hot Damn” was one of my favorite phrases before children….now that they are off to college….well, Hot Damn!

    Check out my blog….Frannycakes…

I am so envious of your son’s hair. It’s so thick and lustrous!

As for the shorts, I would say no, for most offices. (Cute, though!) You could wear them where I work, however. I have a co-worker (in her mid-40s) who wears really short denim shorts and flip-flops to work all summer. Sometimes when she crosses her legs you get a little butt cheek hanging out. It’s completely inappropriate, in my view, but I’m not the boss. ;)

  11. stefanie Says:

Liz–In my office, it’s actually the BOSS who wears little short shorts in the summer! (We are allowed to wear shorts if it’s over 80 degrees. Still, I rarely do, because the AC freezes me solid.)

Back to you Metalia–I think I am just old and unable to adapt, as I think the half-pants and formal shorts are kind of silly. Clearly I’m in a losing battle on this, though, as those things are everywhere. Also, does that kid of yours ever NOT smile???

  12. abbersnail Says:

I am in love (LOVE, I tell you) with your child. Just so you know.

And in the non-profit arts sector of San Francisco, that would totally pass for office attire. But I’m not sure that’s the best possible gauge of reality.

  13. Isabel Says:

HIS HAIR…I just love his hair.

Okay, so I’m wearing a similiar outfit today to my office. I’m short, so the pants are past my knee, if that makes a difference. And I stepped it up a notch and wore nylons with my heels. It is, in my opinion, adorable.

  14. claire Says:

In my office it would be totally appropriate. Especially since half the building is full of very trendy sales-type people.

  15. NancyPearlWannabe Says:

If you worked in a school, that would be a dressy outfit. As for an actual office, I can’t say.

    But that baby! So cute!

  16. don't call me MA'AM Says:

I work in schools… still not appropriate. That outfit wouldn’t fly here. I guess it depends on what you do and what is considered appropriate at your office. Good answer, right?!?

    Loving the Toops!

  17. chickadee Says:

I think nice capris with low heels would be appropriate (and adorable) in most offices, but I just don’t think formal shorts are okay (even if they’re dressed up with a blazer). Then again, I’m kind of stodgy. :)

  18. 180/360 Says:

Like other’s said- it would depend on where you work. I love it, though. If you wear something with confidence, you could probably get away with anything! Ok… not anything, but you know what I mean. :)

  19. Amanda Says:

Toops is just too much! I can’t handle the cuteness! The cheeks, the grins, the mop of soft hair…he’s so sweet.
As far as the shorts go…I’d say it depends how stiff your office dress code is. You would, of course, look great in them, since you are a size negative two, so even if you couldn’t wear them to work, think of how cute you’d look on the weekends, grabbing a frapuccino with your freakin’ cute baby. Holy run-on sentence.

  20. Darren McLikeshimself Says:

I wouldn’t wear it. Of course, I’m guessing there’s much in your closet that I wouldn’t wear.

  21. LVGurl Says:

Cool slideshow. It took me a few rounds to figure out that the pictures were repeating. ‘Cuz I’m quick like that ;)

What a sweet little guy!! And the hair! Babies have hair? I didn’t know such a thing existed.

Yes, cute outfit! I haven’t worked in an office environment for a while, so I have no idea what is appropriate anymore. Professional looking, YES! But short pants could be a no-no in some places.

  22. Jackie Says:

Toops is just too adorable for words!

I think the suit is super cute. I think it’s appropriate for the office for summertime but I haven’t worked in an office for years now so what do I know?! I guess it would depend on how fuddy duddy your co-workers are.

  23. Anonymous Says:

I love the photobucket idea, and the pics are great!
As for the suit, why not? It’s still a suit. But coming from someone whose professional attire consisted of Spongebob scrubs what the hell do I know? Maybe wait for someone else to start the trend, but once it’s been done by someone else, go for it – they’d look great on you (assuming that the trendsetter is still employed at your office)

  24. cheesefairy Says:

That outfit would be fine in my office. (On you. I’m about 8 miles too tall.)

LOVE Toopweets and his picnic attire.
